India reports 60,753 fresh Covid cases, 1,647 deaths

India reported 60,753 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall coronavirus tally to 2,98,23,546, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday morning.

Menwahile, the daily recoveries continue to outnumber the fresh infections for the 37th consecutive day.

As many as 1,647 people succumbed to Covid-19 taking the death toll to 3,85,137.

Since 7 May, we have witnessed a continuous decline. On 25 May, the daily cases went below the 200,000-mark. On 7 June, the cases were around 100,000 and if you analyse the data of Friday, 62,480 new cases were seen.

This means there is a decline of almost 85% since the highest reported peak in new cases. For the past 11 days, the daily cases have remained below the 1,00,000-mark.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.

It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
