According to a report, Abhishek Sharma’s marriage procession arrived in Anand Nagar village in Deoria district on Thursday to marry Sushma, the daughter of Dinesh Sharma. Despite the dowry being paid and a generous spread of food, the groom’s family was displeased when they learned there was no non-vegetarian food at the wedding. The report states that the groom and his relatives then allegedly began attacking the bride’s family, kicking, punching, and beating them with sticks.
According to a police complaint, the groom, his father Surendra Sharma, and others used abusive language over the absence of non-vegetarian food. When Dinesh Sharma, the bride’s father, objected, Abhishek Sharma, Surendra Sharma, Rampravesh Sharma, Rajkumar, and some unknown individuals allegedly started attacking his family with sticks, kicking, and punching them. The complaint also noted that nearly ₹5 lakh had been given as dowry, including ₹4.5 lakh for purchasing a car and additional items such as a tilak set and two gold rings worth ₹20,000.
