Chillas are basically an Indian version of pancakes made with chickpea flour. Though it has many variations with millet flours, or batter of different lentils & grains.

Mix-veg moong sprouts chilla is a tasty option for protein and fibre sources for vegetarians. It is easy to prepare and cook in just a couple of minutes. It is a filling recipe served with raita or even with your preferred sabji.

  1. 1 cup moong sprouts
  2. Veggies
  3. Onions
  4. Ginger-garlic paste
  5. Spices
  6. Besan as required
  7. Red chilli powder
  8. Salt
  9. Garam masala
  10. Coriander powder
  11. Sesame seeds

Step-By-Step Guide

  1. Blend lightly crushed moong sprouts with your preferred vegies in a food processor.

2. Combine the blend with besan and ginger garlic paste. Add water to form a spreadable batter.

3. Add Red chilli powder, salt, garam masala, and coriander powder in the batter. Mix them well & keep them aside for a while to absorb flavours.

4. Heat a pan add some oil and pour in the batter into a circular shape.

5. Drizzle oil and sesame seeds on the batter and flip until turning brown.

6. Cook until golden brown and serve with chutney and raita.

  1. Do not over cool the chilla.
  2. Make sure that the spices do not subdue the taste.
  3. The batter should be thick enough to spread uniformly in the pan.
