Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding the Adani Group, particularly in light of demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) inquiry. Abdullah expressed confidence that the Central Government would take these concerns seriously and ensure a proper inquiry into the matter.
Addressing reporters, Abdullah acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations against the Adani Group, stating, “While I am not fully aware of the specifics of what has transpired, I firmly believe that a fair probe should be conducted.” He refrained from commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s remarks regarding the issue but reiterated the necessity for an investigation by the Central Government.
When questioned about reports of bribes allegedly offered to Jammu and Kashmir officials by the Adani Group between 2021 and 2023, Abdullah asserted that these claims should also be investigated thoroughly. He referenced a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir regarding a significant scam in the Jal Shakti Department amounting to ₹3,000 crore. “We believe everything should be probed fairly,” he stated.
Abdullah further emphasized that the era of “Gunda Raj” has passed, asserting that citizens have the right to hold their government accountable. “It is time for those who elected this government to question its actions and demand transparency,” he concluded.
