Afghanistan’s main Leg-spinner has left his marks in history in T20s by becoming the highest wicket-taker, and while he is just 26 years old he overtook West Indies’ part-time bowler Dwayne Bravo’s tally at 631 scalps when during SA20 Qualifier 1 on Tuesday when he dismissed Paarl Royals off Dunith Wellalage in the match at the Wanderers. He is none other than spin king Rashid Khan, he made his T20 debut in October 2015, and he has been a powerhouse of the format across global leagues, nearing an incredible 500 matches in tournaments such as the IPL, PSL, CPL, BPL, and The Hundred.
A Master Of Spin
Rashid’s bowling always remained distinctive as it could always bowl quick deceptive deliveries with a tinge of mystery. Often the batters cannot read him as he maintains variation, so it becomes hard to take a chance and makes the batters defend more than going for risks. He is developed into an exciting all-rounder and now he has started turning matches single-handedly. His snake shot, flicked yorker delivered with very impressive wrist work, makes him exciting to see batting at lower end.
Rashin Khan On Becoming No.1 T20 Wicket-Taker
“It’s a great achievement,” Rashid said after his team won. “I never thought about it, if you asked 10 years before this if I would get there. It’s a proud feeling to be from Afghanistan and to be at that level where you top the table. DJ [Bravo] is one of the best T20 bowlers. It’s a great honour and I’m looking forward to continuing.”
Established Match-Winner
Rashid was a game-changer during the IPL 2018 playoff match was scoring 34 of just 10 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He did well with both the bat and the ball to bag 3 for 19. He will always be appreciated, and indeed Gujarat Titans also gave him an offer of staggering INR 15 crore which translates to 1.8 million USD nearly.
What Is Ahead For Rashid?
After the SA20, Rashid will return to Afghanistan’s national team for the Champions Trophy. He will come back to Indian Premier League into the Titans again. With full cricket left, Rashid can break more records and solidify his legacy among the greatest ever T20 players.
