Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently opened up about the biggest oversight of the company. Nadella in a podcast with YouTuber Dwarkesh Patel, stated that his biggest oversight was failing to anticipate the dominance of search, which Google executed and capitalised on. He said that it was ‘one lesson learned.’
What Did Nadella Say?
Nadella said, “We missed what turned out to be the biggest business model on the web, because we all assumed the web is all about being distributed.”
He further added that no one would have thought that search would be the biggest winner in organising the web. He added, “And so that’s where we obviously didn’t see it, and Google saw it and executed super well.”
Elon Musk Reacts To Nadella’s Post
Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reacted to a clip shared by Satya Nadella on X. In the video, Nadella described how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has helped Indian farmers in revolutionizing their agricultural practices. He mentioned that the farmers are using AI to maximize yield of their land. His video has garnered 7.2 million views and drawn attention from the Tesla CEO, who commented on the post.
Elon Musk wrote, “AI will improve everything.” Nadella stated in his video, “The one example that I wanted to highlight was one of the small farmers who was part of the Baramati Co-op where you can take this powerful technology, and make it have impact where a small landowner is able to improve the yield of their land. And the numbers they shared in terms of reduction in chemicals, improvement in water usage, and ultimately yield was phenomenal.”

Notably, this is not the first time that Musk has reacted to Nadella’s post. Earlier, he had replied to Microsoft CEO’s post on quantum computing chip. Musk added, “More and more breakthroughs with quantum computing.”
Nadella’s post read as: “We’ve created an entirely new state of matter, unlocked by a new class of materials- topoconductors-that enable a fundamental leap in computing.”
