The NEW KTM Duke 390 gets a host of new features that make it a resolute improvement over the last model. These include a slew of mechanical changes as well as new additions to the design profile. It would be fair to say that KTM understands the needs of the enthusiasts, and hence they have given the bike some of the most profound changes that give it an unprecedented advantage in the segment.
Larger Airbox
It’s widely apparent that the position of the rear monoshock that handles the suspension duties of the Duke 390 has been changed. The suspension is now fitted a little off-center. While we were analyzing why? KTM has itself answered the question. Upon their website, they have mentioned how the cylinder head has been optimized and the gearbox has been updated. KTM further elucidates by mentioning that the suspension has been mounted off to a side to accommodate a bigger air-box necessary for the updated engine.
New Advances Shocks for Rear And Front
The Rear shock is updated to a WP Apex- a separate piston shock absorber with 150mm travel and 60mm of stroke. The riders can easily adjust rebound with a 5-step clicker and pre-load adjustment. The front forks are now WP Apex Open Cartridge Forks with 150 mm travel, adjustable for rebound and compression settings.
New Features
All updated Duke’s would now have connectivity functions, irrespective of the variant you choose, these functions would allow the pilots to play music, take incoming calls and navigate easily with turn by turn updates.
The Party Piece – Launch Control
This feature would be an enthusiast’s rejoice for the first time a 400 cc enthusiast bike has been launched with a feature that was often the go to choice for super cars. Users can now opt for launch control while launching their bike. Once engaged it would hold the revs at 7,000 rpm, waiting to aggressively accelerate once the clutch is dropped. While the bike has now gotten expensive, these features and the overall aggressive positioning toward the enthusiasts still ensure its position as a stalwart in the segment.
