WhatsApp To Introduce New Video Call Feature To Protect Users From Online Scams! News24 –

Video call frauds have become the new go-to choice for fraudsters, in a bid to rectify the situation, What’App has started working on a new feature that would enhance the user privacy during Video calls. The new feature would allow users to either choose to switch on their camera or keep it shut off before a video call starts.  Those who seek voice-only communication can keep the camera switched off only.

WhatsApp Privacy Focused Video Call Feature

As of yet, users of WhatsApp have no discernable say in whether they want to switch on the camera or not when a video call starts. The new feature would change that. This would save the users from frauds where a snapshot is taken as soon as the video call starts and then is used as a ransom to persuade the user to pay charges.

As per a news update by Android Authority, WhatsApp is testing the new option in the beta version 2.25.7.3. The feature was seemingly spotted during an APK teardown of the application.

Once the feature is rolled out in a new update, the users will have a choice about whether they want to turn video on or off during a call. This would enable them to from being seen by a caller immediately upon answering a call.

Fraud calls, digital arrests, as well as illegal persuasion to pay for packages stuck in customs are some of the most widely used ways of plundering users online. Resisting picking up calls you think are suspicious, resisting from sharing your phone numbers in the lieu of benefits, discounts, sales, and inclusion into lucky draws are just a few of the ways through which you can save your personal details and numbers from getting leaked. We would recommend that you resist the urge to fall for such puny benefits.
