Delhi Police Rescues 15-Year-Old Girl From Forced Marriage In Rohini, Case Registered News24 –


A 15-year-old girl who was Was allegedly forced to marry a 21-year-old man in Delhi, Rohini, was rescued by police, police said, adding that the girl was shifted to a shelter home following the investigation.

NGO Bal Vikas Dhara (BVD) alerted Delhi police, after which a team rushed to the spot and stopped the wedding. When police sought valid documents, the family initially tried to mislead, but later the girl’s Aadhar card was produced, and her age was revealed.

As quoted by Hindustan Times BVD mentioned in a statement that, “The girl was about to be married to a 21-year-old man at a newly opened temple when a temple board member, also associated with BVD, grew suspicious. He informed the NGO. Multiple teams of the NGO and police reached the spot, and when questioned, the groom showed his Aadhaar card, but the bride’s family hesitated to provide her identification”.

“They gave inconsistent answers about her documents, raising further suspicion. Police and a medical team were called to verify her age. Doctors confirmed that she was underage, yet the families insisted they were not violating the law. Later, at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office, they claimed it was an engagement, not a wedding,” it added. A case under sections of BNS was registered at Prem Nagar police station and further investigation is underway.
