The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has started building a number of foot overbridges at four suburban railway stations to enhance last-mile connectivity on the Mumbai Metro Green Line-4 and 4A (Wadala-Thane), according to a report by Mid-Day.
MMRDA had called for tenders for foot overbridges at Pant Nagar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Vijay Garden (Thane), with Rs 129 crore estimated for the project. An additional Rs 8 crore will be spent for utility relocations as well. The new foot overbridges will connect the metro stations to existing skywalks, such as those at Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, and Bhandup.

In February 2025 a second proposal covered 9,900 additional trees that are to be removed from development area; 7,016 to be relocated locally and 2,884 to be cut. This means the total trees to be cut in both phases is 3,716 which leaves 7,590 trees to be relocated and 1,094 trees left undisturbed. Overall, MMRDA is expected to mitigate the overall impact by planting close to 25,000 new trees.
