Jaiswal further advised Pakistan to look at its own abysmal record when it comes to protecting the rights of minorities. He said, “We strongly reject the motivated and baseless comments made by Pakistan on the Waqf Amendment Act enacted by the Parliament of India. Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on a matter that is internal to India. Pakistan would do better to look at its own abysmal record when it comes to protecting the rights of minorities, instead of preaching to others.”

Pakistan’s Remark On Waqf Act

The matter came into notice after Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, during his weekly press briefing on Thursday, mentioned the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025. He called the bill an act “to dispossess Muslims from their properties including mosques and shrines.” Khan commented that the bill marginalises minorities.

Notably, the Parliament passed the Waqf Amendment Bill in the budget session and it was given an assent by President Droupadi Murmu on April 5 .The Act seeks to enhance the efficiency of Waqf boards, improve the registration process and increase the role of technology in managing Waqf records .
