The Future Of Diesel Engines To Be Carried By These New Technologies! New Powertrain Changes Revealed News24 –

The profound reliance on diesel engines for powering heavy machineries has been pretty evident. While the EV powertrains have been able to replace and power the consumer-based vehicles with ease. When it comes to powering Heavy-Duty Commercial vehicles EV powertrains lack the capability to offer the arduous torque necessary for prolonged hours. To Ensure that the Diesel Powertrains can exist along with EV powertrains with strict emission norms- here’s how Diesel engines can be converted in the future. To ensure that they emit less pollution and are still capable of powering heavy duty vehicles such as Diggers, Tippers and Trucks used in construction and other dynamics.

Changing The Design Of The Combustion Chamber

As per a few techniques that have been devised by Mitsubishi the Combustion Chamber configurations can be changed to ensure that the engine can offer the same performance without emitting harmful fumes. It is possible to incorporate new techniques such as Cylinder Deactivation, Hybridisation and Electrification of certain components such as valve lift actuators to offer an advanced Diesel Engine design that would offer better performance while cooperating with the set emission norms.

Advanced Combustion Technologies

One of the most prominent ways of curbing the NOx emissions would be using the reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition- The RCCI enabled engine is capable of igniting a mix of two different fuels within the combustion chamber- One of which would be a high octane fuel like Gasoline and the other one would be a fuel that is high in Cetane- This led to a overall decrease of about 87% drop in MNOx emissions. Such results were witnessed once the technique was employed on a low compression engine. Beyond that the same engine was able to showcase a reduction of about 95% in particulate matter while under use.

Advanced Combustion Technologies ( PCCI)

Modulating ignition Timing has always been an integral part of controlling emission Production. To ensure that emission norms can be achieved without impacting the engine performance a new advanced combustion technology called premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI). Through the technique a mixture of Diesel and Gasoline to reduce the overall NOx emissions. Ensuring that the engines have a more accurately timed ignition event leads to lower fuel usage and is one of the simplest ways to begin working towards a direction with lower CO2 emission.

Opposed Piston Engine

Achates Power Opposed – Piston, Two Stroke diesel engine technology has shown veritable results in case of conforming to emission norms. A new 10.6L three cylinder, Six Piston Power plant has no cylinder head. Which leads to a remarkable drop in heat and further provides an immediate advantage. Beyond the other benefits, this new type of engine is further able to provide the users with better fuel efficiency as well.
