Mark Boucher expressed his views about how KKR has dug themselves into trouble through their batting performance during their 16-run defeat at the hands of PBKS on April 15. Punjab Kings achieved the lowest defensive score in IPL history as the Ajinkya Rahane-led team fell short of chasing 112 and ended their innings at 95. Rahane (17 off 17) and Raghuvanshi (37 off 28) crafted a crucial 55-run partnership, bringing KKR within reach of victory, needing just 50 runs in 74 balls. The team hit a severe decline after that point as they ended up in a dire situation with the score at 79 for 8 wickets. Boucher exposed KKR’s crushing defeat by revealing that excessive caution during batting created a huge batting hole.
Mark Boucher Criticises And Questions About The Lack Of Intent In Run Chasing
“It’s not like a 140 or 150, and it’s not like a 60-run target. It was a total that was always gonna be awkward. It’s a total that as a batting team, you’re expected to go out and get it. I just think that they batted themselves into bit of a hole. They got off to a decent start after the two wickets and then they came out being quite tentative. Which is quite strange, from a team that’s just come off on the back of a win. So yeah, I just don’t think that the batters that came in were batting at the intensity that they needed to,” said Boucher on Star Sports.
Here Is What Robin Uthappa Thinks About KKR’s Performance
The easier target turned out to be harmful for KKR as per the former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, since it resulted in a significant decline in their performance. Following their loss KKR plans to bounce back as soon as possible before their match against Gujarat Titans (GT) scheduled for April 21 at their home ground Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The team currently holds position number six in the points standings through their seven games where they obtained three victories while acquiring six points.
