Journey Of Cradlewise
In this article, we explore Cradlewise’s ideation and journey through the lens of its founders, and how this product managed to get out from Bengaluru and reach to the world.
The idea of the company started with exhausted and frazzled first time parents and founders who set out to engineer a cradle that would help their daughter sleep better. The prototypes were built in 2018 for their kids. In 2019, they moved to China for 9 months to build their first units. They started sales in SF Bay area during the pandemic in 2020. For this, they moved with 2 kids, 4 bags and no medical insurance amid the COVID outbreak. Their journey wasn’t smooth as in 2021, they navigated global supply chain chaos and chip shortages. In 2022, Radhika and Bharath decided to set up manufacturing in Vietnam as India was still recovering from COVID. After all the hardship, the duo finally managed to build their own crib factory in India in 2024. Interestingly, every crib is now manufactured in India and the crib was formally launched in India in 2025.
Radhika further mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal in her LinkedIn post. She wrote, “Narendra Modi ji and Piyush Goyal ji – We are building a global, connected consumer hardware company powered by homegrown AI.” She ended the post with: “Designed in India, Made in India and built for the World.”
According to startup database Founderoo, the prototype for the smart crib was developed in Bengaluru, but they decided to launch the product in the United States first.
