IMD Weather Update: A drop in temperature has been observed in several places, especially in South India, as rain brought significant relief from the ongoing scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast pleasant weather across various regions for the next few days. However, a warning for heavy rainfall is issued for Bihar on the 17th of April. Meanwhile, Assam & Meghalaya will face intense downpour on the 17th, while Arunachal Pradesh will receive continued rain from the 20th to 22nd of April.
Rain, Thunderstorms, Lightning Expected Over…
The Met Department has cautioned against an upper air cyclonic circulation brewing over Southwest Rajasthan and East Madhya Pradesh and East Assam. Under its influence, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 Km/h are expected over Northeast and East India during the next five days. These changes in weather conditions are also attributed to two troughs extending from Southwest Rajasthan to the Gulf of Mannar and from East Madhya Pradesh
to Gangetic West Bengal, respectively.
Heavy Rain Warning For Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh
According to IMD, isolated to scattered light showers, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also likely over the plains of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, from 16th to 18th April. On the other hand, isolated heavy rain will lash Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on 18th and 19th April. Residents must take necessary precautions as more rain is expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Karnataka during the next 5 days.
Active Western Disturbance
An active Western Disturbance has started showing its impact over the Western Himalayan Region and will continue till 20th April. Under its influence, duststorms/thunderstorms are likely over East Rajasthan on 17th April. Meanwhile, thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph) is expected at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar on 17th & 18th April.
