World Heritage Day 2025 Theme

Every year, the International Council on Monuments and Sites selects a theme for World Heritage Day, focusing on a key issue in heritage conservation. The theme for 2025 is ‘Disaster and Conflict Resilient Heritage‘.

India’s Treasures Go Ticket-Free For A Day

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has declared that entry to all the ASI-protected monuments nationwide will be free of cost on the occasion of World Heritage Day. The statement from the Ministry of Culture emphasizes that this initiative seeks to motivate people through the discovery of India’s cultural diversity.

History Of World Heritage Day

The organization ICOMOS first presented its World Heritage Day proposal in 1982 before achieving formal acceptance from the UNESCO General Assembly in its 22nd General Conference meeting of 1983. The UNESCO General Assembly established this Day through a formal approval during its 22nd General Conference in 1983. Approximately 10000 members from 150 different countries participated in the event alongside archaeologists and specialists from art research as well as architecture science and geographic study, and civil engineering.

Significance Of World Heritage Day

The central purpose of World Heritage Day includes protecting significant landmarks and eye-catching landmarks from destruction so future societies can access them. In 2023, the annual World Heritage Day theme “Heritage Changes” succeeded in adding the Hoysalas Sacred Ensembles alongside Santiniketan as new members of India’s heritage sites. The meeting brings together professionals from diverse fields who contribute to the presentation of historical knowledge about various cultural backgrounds.
