Muskan Rastogi, the main accused in the murder of her husband Saurabh Rajput, developed a close friendship with prisoner Sangeeta inside the Chaudhary Charan Singh Jail in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, against surprising expectations. The accused women share the same experience of being married to people who ended up killing their spouses.

Murder Charges And Love Affairs

The police arrested Muskan about four weeks ago for executing a savage killing of her husband Saurabh, who operated as a Merchant Navy officer. Sangeeta is jailed at Thana Jani in Meerut for murdering her spouse Ajay, who goes by the name Bittu. The women in this case were already involved with other men as they made plans to eliminate their husbands for their relationship opportunities.

A Murder During A Wedding Visit

The wedding celebration in Meerut served as a travel purpose for Ajay to visit from Dehradun. Ajay consumed alcohol at the convenience of Sangeeta and her boyfriend Avnish. The assault continued when Avnish struck him with the hand pump until he strangled him to his death. The police discovered his dead body, which started their investigation process. The police apprehended Sangeeta and Avnish after they confessed their crimes during February 2024.

A Gruesome Crime That Shocked Many

People were especially disturbed by the extreme brutality in Muskan’s crime. Muskan provided her husband Saurabh a meal laced with sedative drugs on March 4. She made a call to her boyfriend Sahil Shukla after her husband fell unconscious before they both stabbed Saurabh in his chest and cut open his throat. The criminals proceeded to sever his hands before concealing his corpse inside a drum that contained cement and sand. The perpetrators put the body drum inside their residential space.

A Failed Cover-Up with Text Messages

Muskan tried to conceal Saurabh’s murder by sending false messages through his phone to his family members while impersonating him. She sent deceptive messages to his sister pretending Saurabh was involved in Holi celebrations to create the illusion that he remained alive. Saurabh’s brother decided to file a missing report after he became doubtful on March 18. Following the confession, Muskan admitted to police she received help from Sahil to commit the murder.

Evidence And Arrests

The admission led authorities to discover Saurabh’s remains in the container while they recovered the weapons that had been used for murder, which consisted of a butcher’s knife together with a razor blade. Police authorities detained Muskan and Sahil for murdering Saurabh.

Friendship And Pregnancy Behind Bars

The jail officials assigned Muskan to stay in the barrack where Sangeeta resided. The two became close friends. During their time in prison, both women are expecting babies but fail to identify the paternity between their deceased spouses and current partners. The pregnant women cannot engage in jail labor and receive extra care because of their medical condition. Each of them maintains a romantic relationship with different male jail mates who stay in separate sections.
