Would you believe that sipping Chai (Tea) in public space could land you in legal trouble? You might not believe it, but this became a reality for man in Bengaluru. The man was arrested after a video went viral showing him seated on a chair, in the middle of a bustling road and sipping tea. He seems unbothered as auto-rickshaws, bikes pass by him and continues sipping the tea calmly. According to reports, this incident took place on April 12 on Magadi, which is an arterial road in the western part of Bengaluru. As the video surfaced online and gained massive attention, Bengaluru City Police were quick to take notice. The police launched investigation, tracked the man down and took him into custody.
Bengaluru City Police further shared the video on X and advised citizens to be cautious about such actions in public. The police stated that such actions can cost people a hefty fine and that the BCP is continuously keep an eye. “Taking tea time to the traffic line will brew you a hefty fine, not fame!!! BEWARE BCP is watching you,” wrote Bengaluru City Police.
What Went Wrong?
The Bengaluru police on Thursday stated that the man has been arrested for “endangering public safety.” They further added that such reckless behaviour is a punishable offence and invites strict action against it.
While the man faced legal action, netizens added funny comments to the post on social media. The video triggered mix reactions, while some users took hilarious dig, others pointed at the seriousness of the matter. A user wrote, “ha ha ha ha loved it.” Another user added, “Ending was needed. Idu guru.”
There were users who applauded the Bengaluru City Police for their alertness and action. A user commented, “Fine is not enough, sure some BNS sections can be applied.”
