Heatwave To Continue In Rajasthan And Other Regions As Temperatures Rise Despite Rain News24 –


According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over north Iran, and its interaction with an upper air system over the southern region of Punjab, is likely to bring weather changes across eastern and northern India in the coming days.

Heatwave And Temperature Trends:

Despite rainfall in many parts, a severe heatwave continues to grip Rajasthan, with temperatures peaking at 45.4°C in Churu and Sri Ganganagar on April 18. Isolated heatwave conditions will persist in Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra & Kutch on April 18–19.

According to IMD bulletin, “Hot & humid weather will likely prevail over Marathawada & Madhya Maharashtra during 18th. 21″; over Gujarat State during 22. 24 April. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated places, and Heat wave conditions at a few places over Rajasthan.”

As per IMD, “minimum temperature departures (as of 18-04-2025) are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at isolated places over Rajasthan; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C at a few places over East Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Gujarat state; at isolated places over Bihar, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. These are appreciably below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at a few places over Gangetic West Bengal; below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and normal over rest parts of the country (Fig. 4). Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 18.7°C is reported at Nahan (Himachal Pradesh) over the plains of the country.”

The bulletin mentions, “Maximum Temperature Departures (as of 18-04-2025): Maximum Temperatures are markedly above normal (5.1°C or more) at a few places over Rajasthan; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Assam & Meghalaya; at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Marathwada; at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat state, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. These are markedly below normal (-5.1°C or less) at many places over Gangetic West Bengal; at isolated places over Bihar; below normal (-3.0°C to -1.6°C) at isolated places over Odisha, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh and normal over rest parts of the country (Fig. 2). Today, the highest maximum temperature of 45.4°C was reported at Churu & Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) over the country.”
