A terrorist attack happened in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where one tourist was killed and seven others were hurt. A woman shared her story, saying, “We were eating when someone shot my husband.” A video of her talking about the incident has come out. The attackers, believed to be from the TRF terror group, were dressed like police or army officers. Extra CRPF teams have been sent to the area. Intelligence sources say the attack was planned to target tourists on purpose.
The attack happened around 3 PM when terrorists came down from the mountains in Baisaran Valley and started shooting at tourists. “My husband was shot in the head while seven others were also injured in the attack,” a woman survivor told PTI over the phone. The attack happened at a time when tourism in Kashmir is growing again after many years of trouble. Also, the 38-day Amarnath Yatra, a major pilgrimage, is set to begin on July 3.
Videos on social media showed police and security forces quickly reaching the spot. Some people were seen hurt or lying still on the ground. Women were crying and looking for their family members in panic.
‘Attackers Emerged From Dense Pine Forest’
According to a PTI report, the attackers came out from the thick pine forest near Baisaran — a place where many Bollywood films were shot in the 1980s. As soon as the news of the attack came in, the army, CRPF, and local police rushed to the spot. Now, the security forces have launched a full search operation in all directions to catch those responsible for the attack.
‘Tourists Evacuated’
After the attack, tourists quickly left the Pahalgam resort, which used to be crowded. People were worried about their safety. Baisaran is an important tourist spot in Pahalgam. It also offers camping for trekkers going to Tulian Lake.
