KL Rahul’s return to the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow wasn’t another IPL match it had the baggage of previous drama, individual milestones, and an unwritten story that unfolded in plain sight.
KL Rahul’s Stint With LSG
Between 2022 and 2024, Rahul captained the Lucknow Super Giants in the Sanjiv Goenka-owned side. But even before the start of the 2025 season, the stylish right-hander hit the headlines by leaving the franchise. On record, Rahul said he wanted to play more freely and be in a dressing room with an easy-going culture. But murmurs around the cricketing circle suggested there was more to it.

What came after the match was as revealing. Rahul’s cold handshake with Goenka was anything but amiable. Barely a look, and they exchanged niceties while Goenka appeared to try and initiate a conversation which Rahul did not return.

KL Rahul’s Match-Winning Knock Against LSG
When DC played LSG on Tuesday, everyone was waiting for the reunion. KL Rahul was incredible as he led Delhi to an eight-wicket victory with a calm knock of 57* in 44 balls. The innings was not only for the win but also marked the occasion when he became the fastest player to achieve 5000 runs in the history of IPL, reaching this milestone in a mere 130 innings. He overtook legends such as David Warner (135 innings), Virat Kohli (157), AB de Villiers (161), and Shikhar Dhawan (168).
