‘Knowingly Harbouring…’ CRPF Sacks Jawan Munir Ahmad For ‘Concealing’ His Marriage With A Pakistani Woman- More Actions To Follow? News24 –
The CRPF dismissed Constable Munir Ahmed after discovering that he had hidden his marriage to a Pakistani national. Although authorities were about to deport his wife to Pakistan, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court granted her last-minute relief. The CRPF stated that the dismissal was “for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa”. “His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security,” the CRPF said. The jawan was last posted with the 41st battalion of the paramilitary CRPF, the lead internal security force of the country.
According to PTI, CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) M Dhinakaran said: “Munir Ahmed has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa. His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security”
When Did This Come to Light
India revealed Ahmed’s marriage to Menal Khan when it asked all Pakistani nationals to leave the country. This decision was part of the steps India took following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 people. India had revoked visas for most Pakistani nationals and asked them to leave the country within a specified period.
Ahmed’s wife, Minal Khan, who is from Pakistan, received deportation orders and was sent to the Attari-Wagah border before the high court granted her relief. Ahmed, a resident of Jammu who joined the CRPF in 2017, had informed his department in writing about his intention to marry a woman from Pakistan. However, he did not wait for official approval and proceeded with the marriage. The couple tied the knot over a video call on May 24 last year.
In new actions taken in response to the Pahalgam attack, India imposed a ban on imports, incoming mail, and parcels from Pakistan on Saturday. It also prohibited ships from Pakistan from docking at any Indian ports.
