Delhi residents can expect continued relief from the scorching heat as the rainy spell persists. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, strong surface winds for Tuesday, May 6. Delhi has been reeling under intense weather over the past few days. Rain, along with thunderstorm, and gusty winds lashed the national capital on Friday, May 2. Since then, there has been light rain/drizzle, lower maximum temperature and generally cooler weather in Delhi.
Forecast For Tuesday, May 6
For today, May 6, the IMD has issued a yellow alert as the rainy spell will continue. Generally cloudy sky, light rain accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning and strong surface winds with speed may increasing up to 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph during thunderstorm have been predicted today. The maximum temperature will remain 32 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
The IMD observed that the maximum temperatures are currently in the range of 31-32°C and no large change during next 48 hours is expected over Delhi.

The rainy spell is expected to continue in the coming days. A yellow alert has been issued for rain, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, strong surface winds on Wednesday, May 7. Light rain or drizzle is expected until May 10. Surface winds are likely to prevail on all days until May 11. Furthermore, cloudy sky will persist in the national until May 11. The IMD has ruled out any heatwave conditions this week as the maximum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 34-36 degrees Celsius. This indicates a relief for extended period from the heat.

Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
Unplug electrical/ electronic appliances.
Immediately get out of water bodies. Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity.
