Stamp Vendor Shoots Himself Dead In Mohali; Police Recover Two Suicide Notes News24 –


Chandigarh: In a shocking incident that took place at Mohali around 10 am on Monday, a stamp vendor reportedly died by shooting himself. According to reports, the incident occurred at the Mohali tehsil Office, located in front of Gurdwara Sohala Akal Ashram. The employees present in the office said that the deceased, identified as Navchetan Singh Rana, had asked them to go out.

Rana reportedly told them to step outside as he needed to count the payment. But moments later, after they left, a sound of a gunshot was heard. they rushed back only to find him covered in blood. He had blood flowing from his head and dripping down all over his shirt. Meanwhile, he also had a revolver lying next to his feet.

Following the disturbing incident, police and a forensic team reached the spot. Samples were collected, and an investigation was launched. The Indian Express quoted a police officer as saying, “We are questioning family members and gathering eyewitness accounts and other evidence to thoroughly investigate the real reasons behind the suicide.”

So far, the exact reason behind Rana’s suicide remains unclear. Police are currently probing all angles related to his family, financial, and mental health. The truth will come to light once the coroner and forensic reports are in. Meanwhile, the authorities have registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The deceased has left behind two notes, purportedly written by him. According to sources, one note read – “I don’t owe money to anyone. Sandhu has two cheques and Amit Chhabra has one cheque.” The second note stated, “Sunita, Phase-7, is responsible for my death.” Rana has even put his signature on both the notes, along with the date.

Based on the notes, the Police have started interrogating the individuals mentioned. Navchetan’s family said that he had left home around 9 am for his office. About two hours later, they received the news of his death via a call.
