Schools And Colleges In Parts Of Kashmir To Remain Closed On May 8 As Precautionary Measure News24 –

J&K: Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir has announced the closure of all schools, colleges, and educational institutions in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Gurez for tomorrow, May 8. This decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst rising tensions between the Indo-Pak armies.

Additionally, educational institutions around Awantipora and Srinagar Airport will also remain closed tomorrow. This directive follows a similar announcement made earlier today, reflecting the administration’s proactive approach to safeguarding public safety.

The decision coincides with a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which was attended virtually by Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha along with key officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP JK Nalin Prabhat. The meeting focused on the recent military operations targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, known as ‘Operation Sindoor.’

Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing the Union Home Minister’s directives thoroughly. He commended the Indian Armed Forces for their precision strikes against nine terror targets, asserting that these actions are a testament to India’s resolve against terrorism.

“The operation has sent a clear message that our armed forces will track down terrorists wherever they hide, ensuring they are held accountable for their crimes,” said Sinha, referencing the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including 25 tourists.

In response to potential threats, the Lieutenant Governor is closely monitoring the security situation in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and has directed officials to take necessary precautions. He has also instructed Deputy Commissioners to facilitate the relocation of villagers from vulnerable areas to safer locations, ensuring their access to essential services.
