Amid India-Pakistan Tensions, Amritsar Locals Hold Fearless ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ News24 –

Amritsar is a major city which shares its border with Lahore and Kasur districts of Pakistan. However, despite the ongoing situation, locals of Amritsar are enjoying morning tea without any worries. It is raining lightly and they are discussing about the situation on border. They asserted that they are with the Army of the country, while shedding light on earlier situation. People stated that they used to face the enemy earlier also and will do so even now. They added that people of Amritsar used to fight the Mughal armies which used to come from Afghanistan and the Sikh soldiers and people together used to send them back from here.

People are living a normal life and there is no tension in Amritsar at this time. Discussion is going over morning tea and tension over the border situation was not at all visible on the faces of the people. Moreover, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla was also seen drinking tea without any worries. Aujla reiterated that people of Amritsar are standing shoulder to shoulder with the army and it was necessary to teach a lesson to Pakistan,’ the factory of terrorism.’

Locals Hold Fearless ‘Chai Pe Charcha’

Former Senior Deputy Mayor of Amritsar Raman Bakshi also stated that in the 1971 war, the people of Amritsar and the border fought shoulder to shoulder with the Army. He said, “When the Indian Army had gone beyond Lahore, our people had brought their cattle and if it happens now, we will do the same as our ancestors, earlier they used to have cattle, now they have expensive vehicles, we will bring them from there as a symbol.”

On the other hand, Dinesh Bassi, a local resident of Amritsar, said that there is no panic situation in Amritsar at this time and the government should form defense committees. He added that whatever is being circulated on social media should not be trusted too much.

Moreover, former MLA, Sunil Dutti said that people should not panic. He further highlighted that people are living together in the localities at this time.
