The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has recently issued a strong advisory, asking all the Indian filmmakers and production houses to avoid shooting near the India-Pakistan border. This warning comes amid the increasing tensions alongside the border. It highlighted the especially sensitive zones including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
AICWA Releases Official Announcement
In the official statement, AICWA has urged the film industry to place national security above commercial interests. It tried reminding the filmmakers that choosing to shoot in conflict-prone regions could put the film’s crew and cast in danger. Not only this, but even this can make the disruptions for our military forces.
AICWA statement reads: ”The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued an official advisory urging all Indian film producers and production houses to avoid shooting near sensitive India-Pakistan border regions, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. AICWA specifically emphasizes that areas along the border in these states and cities should be considered high-alert zones, and filmmakers are advised to refrain from conducting shoots in these locations. In view of the current situation along the India-Pakistan border, AICWA emphasizes the importance of prioritizing national security over commercial interests. The association has highlighted that the safety of film crews, artists, and technicians should remain paramount, and any production activities near conflict zones can pose serious risks.”
“Our film industry’s creativity should never overshadow the importance of national security. At a time when our brave soldiers stand vigilant at the frontlines, we must ensure that our actions reflect respect and caution,” added Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, President of AICWA.
The statement further elaborated: AICWA further advised all production teams to stay informed about the latest security advisories issued by the government and local authorities. Responsible filmmaking in times of heightened tension means avoiding unnecessary exposure to danger. The association also expressed its solidarity with the Indian armed forces, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifice in protecting the nation. AICWA called upon the film industry to demonstrate unity and responsibility in supporting the country’s security efforts.”
