Noida Teacher Arrested For Torturing Differently-Abled Student Over Two Years News24 –

In a deeply disturbing case from Noida, a 35-year-old private tutor has been arrested for allegedly torturing a specially-abled student over two years. The accused, identified as Shubham Saxena, was hired to teach 20-year-old Abhinav Bindra, a non-verbal student with special needs, essential life skills. The abuse reportedly took place at the victim’s home in Sector 76.

Abuse Captured On CCTV

The shocking details came to light after Abhinav’s father, Devendra Singh Bindra, installed a CCTV camera inside his son’s room to monitor his well-being. On April 24, upon checking the footage, he was horrified to see the tutor pinching his son, forcing him to eat green chillies, and using a pen to inflict pain by pressing it between the student’s fingers. The camera also captured the tutor giving him unknown substances.

Complaint And Arrest

Based on the footage, Devendra lodged a complaint at Sector 49 Police Station. Police quickly launched an investigation and arrested Shubham Saxena. He has been booked under sections 115(2) and 118(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to voluntarily causing hurt and using dangerous means, as well as relevant provisions under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

Abuse Spanned Over Two Years

The student’s father revealed that Shubham had been teaching Abhinav for the past two years, during which the abuse is now believed to have been ongoing. Due to Abhinav’s inability to communicate verbally, the torment remained hidden for a long time. Devendra stated that his son would sometimes show signs of distress, but the extent of the abuse was only uncovered after viewing the CCTV footage.

Public Reaction And Concern

The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns over the safety of children with disabilities in home education settings. Parents and disability rights activists are calling for stricter background checks and monitoring mechanisms to protect vulnerable individuals. Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway and have assured that strict action will be taken to ensure justice for the victim
