Delhi: Rainy spell will continue in Delhi this week, with showers and thunderstorm predicted until Sunday May 25. An active Western disturbance and an upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have led to changes in the weather of the national capital. Delhi has been experiencing light rain, dust storm, thunderstorm, and drop in maximum temperature over the past few days, bringing relief to residents from the heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, strong surface winds on Monday, May 19.

The IMD forecast for today indicates a pleasant day due to rain; however, the humidity level might make the weather uncomfortable for residents. A partly cloudy sky has been forecast, with very light to light rain/thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) temporarily reaching to 50 kmph during thunderstorm with dust raising winds. The maximum temperature is expected to remain 41 degree Celsius with a humidity level of 62 percent. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is currently in the range of 41 to 43°C in Delhi. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorm and surface winds for today.

Rain is expected to continue lashing the national capital in the upcoming week (May 19-May 25). The IMD forecast has forecast thunderstorm and rainfall on most days throughout the week. Strong surface winds and drop in maximum temperature are expected to bring relief to the residents. The maximum temperature is likely to remain in the range of 39-41°C. Furthermore, the IMD has ruled out possibility of any heatwave condition this week.
