Intense Flooding Hits Key Areas, Boats Deployed As Locals Blast Infrastructure Failures On Social Media News24 –
Bengaluru: Bengaluru has been experiencing torrential rain and significant weather changes over the past few days. A heavy downpour on Sunday night caused severe flooding in several parts of the city, with Horamavu being the most affected. The flooding was so severe, that rescue teams had to use boats to reach residents trapped in waterlogged streets on Monday morning. This situation points out at the pathetic condition of basic civic infrastructure in the city.
Notably, areas like Vidyaranyapura Sai Layout in Horamavu experienced severe flooding, that disrupted daily activities. Videos and pictures from the area showed water levels rising above knee height in front of many houses. Authorities were forced to deploy boats to assess the damage and offer assistance. Despite repeated requests from locals and protests calling for better drains on road, the area remains highly vulnerable to flooding after every rainfall.
A local told ANI, “All the people in this area are facing difficulty. It is only in this 200-300 metre radius. There is no proper sewage system here. College, school and workplace, all are affected because of this”

Bengaluru’s famous park Manyata Tech Park was also not spared by the rain and it looked like a shallow lake. Over two feet of standing water accumulated at several entry points. Civic authorities were engaged in pumping out the water.
