Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin praised showers at DMK MP and his sister, Kanimozhi for terming “unity in diversity” as India’s national language. The chief minister posted a tweet on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
‘India’s national language is Unity In Diversity’
He wrote on X, “On the soil of Spain, she boldly declared “India’s national language is #UnityInDiversity,” turning the emotions of the people into applause—and the moment into one of the most shared videos. I congratulated @KanimozhiDMK MP for that!
I feel proud to see sister Kanimozhi, who spoke Tamil—the language of love from Tamil Nadu—as the voice of India and as the language of unity.”
Kanimozhi made remarks in Spain
On June 2, While addressing the Indian diaspora in Spain’s Madrid, DMK MP Kanimozhi said, “The national language of India is unity and diversity. That is the message this delegation brings to the world, and that is the most important thing today.”
Stalin’s remarks came amid the controversy over three formula languages and over differences with the Centre on National Education Policy.
Tamil Nadu govt moves SC
In May, the Tamil Nadu government filed a petition before the Supreme Court against the Government of India for allegedly withholding funds after the state government decided not to implement the New Education Policy, 2020.
In the petition, the Tamil Nadu government has sought the release of more than 2000 crores under Samagira Sikha Scheme. The state government has urged the SC to fix a timeframe and sought the recovery of the amount with a future interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the principal sum.
TN govt requested SC to declare Centre‘s action ‘unconstitutional’
The state government also requested SC to declare the union government’s action of withholding funds under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme to implement NEP as “unconstitutional, illegal, arbitrary and unreasonable.”
The state government, led by CM MK Stalin, has also asked the apex court for a declaration that the National Educational Policy, 2020 and the PM SHRI Schools Scheme are not binding on Tamil Nadu.
