Multiple Killed In Stampede Outside Chinnaswamy Stadium; BJP Targets Sidda Govt Over Mismanagement News24 –
The celebration of RCB’s historic victory turned into a tragic incident. A stampede broke out due to the huge crowd gathered outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in which eight people lost their lives and many were seriously injured. Thousands of fans had come out on the streets of Bengaluru to celebrate the team’s first IPL trophy, but this unfortunate incident happened due to a lack of crowd control.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s Clarification
Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said in a media interaction that it had become difficult to control the crowd. He also clarified that the number of dead and injured cannot be confirmed yet.
“This crowd was not under control, according to me. I apologize to the people of Bengaluru and Karnataka. We had planned to take out a procession, but the crowd got out of control. We had made security arrangements for about 5,000 people, but it would not have been right to lathi-charge such an enthusiastic young crowd.”
DK Shivakumar wrote on his X handle that, “People who were supposed to witness RCB’s IPL victory celebrations, the tragedy and death have brought deep pain and shock. My condolences to the deceased. My condolences to their family. Let there be pride, but not bigger than life. I appeal to everyone to please stay safe.”
