Star cricketer Rinku Singh got engaged to Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Machhlishahr, Priya Saroj in a private ceremony at a five-star hotel in Lucknow on Saturday.

Many were in attendance, including celebrities and politicians such as SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, Board of Control for Cricket in India vice-president Rajeev Shukla, actress and politician Jaya Bachchan, etc.

Photos and videos from the engagement ceremony have been circulating among the netizens on social media. Wedding is scheduled on 18 November at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi.

Who Is Priya Saroj?

Saroj is a young politician and lawyer.  She is 26 years old and serves as a Member of Parliament from Machhlishahr.  She is the daughter of three-time MP and current MLA from Kerakat, Tufani Saroj.  Priya was elected for the first time in the 2024 general elections on behalf of Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav.

Priya Saroj was born on 23 November 1998 in Varanasi. She studied at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute , New Delhi. She graduated from Pradesh University  (Turkey) with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and completed her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at Amity University, Noida. After her studies she practiced law in the Supreme Court of India.

According to the media reports, Priya was interested in becoming a judge so she join the political arena. For the 2024 elections she contested from Machhlishahr, the seat once held by her father was elected comfortably by a margin of 35,850 votes , defeating the BJP candidate BP Saroj she said she campaigned on issues like youth employment and women empowerment .
