Sonam Raghuvanshi Allegedly Hired Killers For Husband’s Murder, Arrested News24 –


A big development has emerged in the Meghalaya Honeymoon couple case, with reports confirming that Sonam Raghuvanshi has been found and arrested by the Ghazipur police. She has been accused of allegedly hiring killers for husband Raja Raghuvanshi’s murder. It is being said that Sonam had called her brother and informed about her well-being. She was reportedly located two hours ago in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Indore police who were informed about the development, have departed for Gazipur to take her into custody.

According to sources, Sonam was found in a dishevelled state. She is currently being kept in the Sakhi One Stop Centre, a shelter for women who are victims of violence.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has confirmed the breakthrough in Raja Raghuvanshi murder case and lauded the efforts of the state police. He stated that three assailants have been arrested and operations are still ongoing to apprehend one remaining assailant.

CM Sangma wrote on X, “Within 7 days a major breakthrough has been achieved by the #meghalayapolice  in the Raja murder case … 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female  has surrendered  and operation still on to catch 1 more assailant .. well done #meghalayapolice.”

Meanwhile, DGP I Nongrang stated that four persons, including Raja’s wife have been arrested in connection with his murder in Meghalaya. He said that Sonam was allegedly involved in his murder during honeymoon and had hired killers.

The couple’s family had demanded a CBI probe earlier and written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the same. Speaking to ANI, Sonam’s mother, Sangeeta Raghuvanshi had said, “We want the CBI inquiry to begin as soon as possible so that my daughter can come home as soon as possible… We want our daughter to be found as soon as possible.”

Raja and Sonam were married on May 11 and they had gone for honeymoon on May 20. Raja Raghuvanshi had gone missing along with his wife, Sonam, during their honeymoon in the northeastern state. The couple was last seen on May 23. The family had their last conversation with the couple on the afternoon of May 23 and their phone went switched off by the evening of the same day. Later on June 2, Raja’s body was found in a gorge at Sohrarim near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya while Sonam was still missing.
