San Francisco–Mumbai Flight Hit By Technical Snag, Passengers Deplaned In Kolkata News24 –

Passengers onboard a Mumbai-bound Air India flight were forced to deplane on Tuesday after the aircraft faced a technical snag in one of its engines. The plane en route from San Francisco to Mumbai landed in Kolkata at 12.45 am. According to reports, the flight was supposed to depart for Mumbai at 2 am when a technical issue was detected during the scheduled halt. All passengers on board were asked to deplane around 5.20 am.

Amid ongoing technical challenges, Air India faced another setback on Monday (June 16, 2025) after an Ahmedabad-bound flight was cancelled. The AI flight A12493 en route from Mumbai was halted after it experienced delays due to some operational issues. According to reports, the aircraft, meant to be run by an Airbus A321-211, led to the expiry of the crew’s duty time.

It is said that the delay caused the designated crew to reach their Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) limit. Under the rule, the airline members are restricted from working beyond their set hours due to safety reasons. In yet another operational woe that occurred on Monday, a Ranchi-bound Air India Express flight was diverted back to Delhi moments after it took off from the Airport.

The flight was scheduled to reach Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi at 6.20 pm, before being diverted due to technical issues. However, the flight was given a green signal to fly after inspection, an Air India spokesperson said.

ANI quoted the spokesperson as saying, “One of our flights returned to Delhi after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue. Post inspections and clearance, the aircraft continued scheduled operations. We regret the inconvenience.” Earlier on Monday, another Air India flight was diverted back to Hong Kong from Delhi.
