Norton Trademarks ‘Commander’ And ‘Electra’ Monikers In India! Would The Brand’s First Launch In India Be The Electra? News24 –
Norton had announced its plans to launch two new motorcycles within this year. A recent update has given us a further peek into the matter, revealing the new moniker that the brand might commence with. As per a recent peek into the government trademark database update, it has been revealed that Norton has trademarked its older moniker “Electra”. Earlier this month TVS has confirmed that both TVS and Norton were working on their own new iteration of their respective 450CC parallel with platform that has been developed by BMW.
Going by the slew of recent updates, it’s possible that TVS might be planning to launch the new bike under the Norton Electra moniker. The Electra could be the new name that the brand initiates its journey in India. But beyond the Electra moniker, Norton has also applied for a few other trademarks one that stood out was for Norton Commander -which has been a formidable name in Norton’s history. Which bike would break cover first is yet to be revealed by the brand.
Since Norton is known for its quintessential design style the newly launched bikes would retain the aesthetic but would have all the new accessibility that makes new modern bikes easier to use. Since the bike would most likely be a cruiser, it would be equipped with a comfortable suspension setup as well as a powerful modern engine.

New Engine
Since BMW has been planning to launch an all new BMW F450 GS, its possible that Norton would be equipped with the same engine. The Engine would be a 47PS power producing liquid-cooled engine that would be produced by TVS.The new engine would help the bike compete against its competitors with ease and offer the riders a right balance of performance and styling.
Possible Sighting At EICMA
We expect the 450cc Norton to debut at this year’s EICMA Show, so we might be up to witness the all-new Norton Electra as well as the commander at the event. Norton would be a premium offering from TVS, and would possibly be priced around Rs 5 lakh in India.
