Days after the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, another case of spouse murder came to light in Jharkahnd’s Garhwa district.
According to the Indian Asian News Service, a 22-year-old woman allegedly poisoned and killed her husband just 36 days after their wedding.
The police arrested the woman, who has been identified as Sunita. She has been sent to judicial custody.
The police said that Sunita’s mother-in-law Rajamati filed a complaint with the police accusing Sunita of his son’s murder.
According to the FIR, Sunita was married to Budhnath Singh, a resident of Bahokundar village under Ranka police station limits. The marriage took place on May 11, 2025.
According to reports, Sunita returned to her parental home after the marriage. She said she did not like Budhnath and would not live with him. Family members from both sides tried to save the marriage. A panchayat was also called on June 5 and they persuaded Sunita.
Sunita returned to her marital home with Budhnath. On June 14, the couple visited Ramanujganj market in Chhattisgarh. Sunita convinced Budhnath to buy pesticides for some agricultural use.
It is alleged that Sunita mixed the pesticide in Budhntah’s food on June 15. The next morning, Budhnath was found dead.
The police sent the body for postmortem, and the cause of death will be ascertained once the report is received.
