WATCH VIDEO | Magnus Carlsen Meme Fest: Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna Joins The Club News24 –
The hand-smash scene that was witnessed in the Norway Chess tournament, which was recently concluded, cannot be forgotten, and the memes posted around it are so unlimited. It all began when individuals began to produce sports reels concerning other board games, such as Snakes and Ladders. And then it ballooned out to be more than that, as people began to do parody reels of going through the way to evade ticket checkers and so forth. It is now down to Indian grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna to make some humorous reference to the infamous fist smash in an interview with FIDE. One of the seconds Harikrishna had in Gukesh winning the world chess championship when he was a teenager last year.
🇮🇳🤯 OH MY GOD! Harikrishna slammed the table!#FIDERapidBlitzTeams pic.twitter.com/YwMZR0eZlT

This is exactly what world no 1 Carlsen had done after going down to world champion Gukesh in the Norway Chess tournament. The Norwegian was furious at himself because he had wasted such a major advantage on the board in one single move and lost to the Indian teenager who now sits in the royal throne of world champions, which he had readily given up only a couple of years ago. Subsequently, Carlsen had twice apologised to Gukesh before leaving the playing hall.
This is not the first time Harikrishna has imitated the fist slam of the IOC player. Back in the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Teams Championships, Anish Giri also had been seen tenderly breaking his fist on the table before the beginning of a match. As Anish had made the gesture, he had smiled pointedly at the camera. In the meantime, members of the MGD1 team voted unanimously in designating Harikrishna as the player in his team who tells the best jokes. And he was not at all displeased with his gesture.
