Air India Flight Grounded In Pune After Bird Hit; Return Journey Cancelled News24 –


Air India cancelled the return journey of its Pune-bound flight from Delhi after the aircraft suffered a bird hit on June 20. The airline said in a statement, that the plane landed safely in Pune but a bird hit was detected. 

According to PTI, The airline stated that the aircraft has been grounded, and the engineering team is examining the plane.

“Flight AI2470 scheduled to operate from Pune to Delhi on June 20 has been cancelled due to a bird hit which was detected after the incoming flight landed safely in Pune,” the statement read.

Airline provided accommodation

Air India also provided accommodation to the stranded passengers. The airline is also offering refunds on cancellations to passengers who select it.

Several Air India flights cancelled due to maintenance, bad weather

Earlier, Air India has cancelled several international and domestic flights on Friday due to increased aircraft checks, bad weather, and airspace restrictions.

Affected flights include services between Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

As per the statement from Air India, “Air India’s international flights A1906 from Dubai to Chennai; Al308 from Delhi to Melbourne; Al309 from Melbourne to Delhi; A12204 from Dubai to Hyderabad and domestic flights A1874 from Pune to Delhi; A1456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi; Al-2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai and A1571 from Chennai to Mumbai have been cancelled due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons.”

Airline offered full refunds

The airline has offered full refunds or free rescheduling and is helping passengers with alternate travel plans.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our colleagues on ground are making alternative arrangements for them to fly to their respective destinations at the earliest. Full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling has been offered to passengers,” the statement reads.

The airline has advised passengers to check their flight status on its website or call the customer care numbers for updates.
