Today marks the 40th birthday of Arjun Kapoor, who began his career with the popular film Ishaqzaade, in which he co-starred with Parineeti Chopra. As a proud heir to the Kapoor family, Arjun has dabbled in a variety of film genres, including comedy, fantasy, romance, and thrillers.
In spite of this diversity, Arjun is a frequently criticized and misunderstood actor in the film industry. Additionally, it is said that he is solely responsible for his actions.
For the uninformed, Arjun was about to play the lead role in three Bollywood blockbusters, but things did not work out as planned. His career would have gone entirely in a different direction if these films had been successful.
Blockbuster Films Arjun Kapoor Missed:
Ek Villain (2014):
Ek Villain is a film by Mohit Suri in which Arjun Kapoor was the original choice to appear as Guru Divekar in the film. However, he was forced to give up his role and Sidharth Malhotra took over in its place. Shraddha Kapoor and other Riteish Deshmukh were also present in the film. It became a blockbuster and acted as a boost to the career of Sidharth.
Kabir Singh (2019):
The producers Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani initially intended Arjun Kapoor to star in the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy. However, Shahid Kapoor was already in the mind of the film director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. This was confirmed later in an interview by Shahid himself.
83 (2021):
In 83, a sports film directed by Kabir Khan, Arjun was shortlisted to play the role of Kapil Dev. Ranveer Singh was however selected in the end. According to Kabir Khan, Ranveer had been his first and only option. It is reported that the movie was initially planned when Arjun was to be the lead but the director and team changed.
He recently appeared in the Romantic Comedy Mere Husband Ki Biwi directed by Mudassar Aziz. Pooja Entertainment produced the film under the names of Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. He was paired with Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh in this light-hearted comedy.
