Rajasthan Woman Rescued At Airport; Allegedly Lured To Oman In Trafficking Plot News24 –

The immigration department and Delhi Police rescued an 18-year-old woman who was about to leave the country for Oman, where her alleged boyfriend had plotted to sell her.

Lured online with promises of luxury in Oman

According to NDTV, a 35-year-old man named Mohammed Islam befriended the woman, a resident of Churu in Rajasthan, online and promised her a luxurious life in Muscat, the capital of Oman. The woman was convinced by him.

Islam helped her obtain a passport and booked a flight ticket from Delhi to Muscat. She left Churu carrying Rs 1 lakh in cash and some jewellery to catch the flight from Delhi.

Left home without informing family

A senior police officer said the woman is a resident of Tarapur. She did not inform anyone before leaving home. When her family members could not find her, they informed the police.

The police launched a probe and discovered that she was at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. The Churu police sought help from the embassy and Delhi Police to rescue her.

Rescued minutes before takeoff

The senior officer said the woman was rescued just half an hour before the flight’s takeoff. He added that if there had been any delay in the process, she would have flown to Muscat.
