‘Unfair If He’s Dropped’- Mohammad Kaif Slams Team India If Kuldeep Yadav Faces Axe News24 –

Following England’s impressive run chase of a record 371 at Leeds to win the first Test and take an initial 1-0 series lead, India is now facing some stern bowling calls before the second Test. The Headingley match revealed some serious bowling weaknesses in India’s attack, and the team management has been under pressure to reshuffle its strategy.

One of the main debates is whether to play Washington Sundar or Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI. There were reports recently that Kuldeep could be dropped for the next game, a move that has drawn sharp criticism from cricket circles.

Mohammad Kaif Complains Against Possible Omission of Kuldeep

Ex-Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has been outspoken on Kuldeep Yadav’s case, terming it unjust if the spinner is dropped once again. Kuldeep, who is one of India’s star spinners, has played just 13 Tests in eight years – most of the time due to the presence of Ravichandran Ashwin, who retired recently. Now that Ashwin is no more, the second spinner’s job is vacant and has brought focus squarely on coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill.

Kaif turned to social media, calling upon the team management to give Kuldeep a fair opportunity. “It would be unjust if Kuldeep Yadav isn’t included in the playing XI of the second Test. He has played only 13 Tests in eight years and was dropped previously due to Ashwin. How do you explain dropping him now?” he posted on X.

Kaif’s appeal is an indication of the mounting expectation that Kuldeep must now have a fair chance to prove himself at the Test level, particularly when India are keen to shore up their bowling line-up.

India’s Way to Even the Series

India’s chances of squaring the series now rely heavily on fixing the bowling problems unveiled at Headingley. In spite of brilliant centuries from Rishabh Pant (who smacked two hundreds) and other batsmen, the bowling department failed to defend the huge total.

Before the second Test, aficionados and pundits are eagerly looking forward to the announcement of the final XI prior to the toss at 3:30 PM IST.
