Earlier, Trichy international airport had received a bomb threat via an email on early Sunday morning. After inspection by the airport security staff and police the threat was declared a hoax. According to sources, the airport management officials received the bomb threat from a fake email address originating from a foreign country around 1.30 am. Following this, CISF personnel conducted search operation in passenger terminals. The mail warned that explosives were packed in luggage and discarded around the airport, asking officials to evacuate the passengers immediately. However, nothing suspicious was found in the inspection carried out by Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and sniffer dog team.
