‘Special Ops’, which has become one of the most popular shows in India, is gearing up for its most-awaited second season. The show focuses on Himmat Singh, who is a RAW Agent and takes on a new challenge of dealing with digital threats across the nation. Starring Kay Kay Menon in the lead role and directed by Neeraj Pandey, ‘Special Ops Season 2’ will release on JioHotstar on July 11. The show also stars Karan Tacker in a pivotal role and is seen as Farooq Ali. In an exclusive interview with News24, Karan Tacker shares his experience of working in the second season, his bond with Neeraj Pandey and Kay Kay Menon and much more.
In the new season, the audience will witness more thrilling action sequences that will keep on the edge of their seats. Talking about how he did his action, Karan shares, “Every single action piece is very tough. And I am not trying to make it look like we work really hard, but it is so tiring, and your body takes such a hit. Because it is Neeraj Sir’s best quality that he shoots on real locations. So, if you are falling on the floor, it will actually be made of concrete. If you are getting beaten up in the scene, you are actually swollen the next day. But I enjoyed every bit of it. It’s also scary because you have to jump from a bridge 600 feet high and have to trust your action team. I enjoyed it a lot and was really happy that I was getting to do all of this.”
The first season of ‘Special Ops’ became a massive hit and the audience have now high expectation for its new season. Revealing if he felt any pressure while joining the second season, Karan adds, “I usually don’t take pressure from things; if anything, I get very excited. You know the fact that we have a season 2 today of such a large mounted show just shows how much love the audience must have given to season 1. I was very excited when I got called upon for season 2. In fact, if anything, I was waiting with bated breath that Neeraj sir would green-light the second season. When I got the script, I couldn’t be more excited, and it was such a pleasure because I realised that the world has gotten bigger. The dynamics of every character have gotten bigger. My character in itself has evolved so much. The topic that we are dealing with is very contemporary and I got to do many big action sequences. I was very excited and couldn’t wait for us to go on the floor.”
Special Ops Season 2 will mark the third collaboration between Karan Tacker and Neeraj Pandey. Karan reveals that he shares a good bond with Neeraj and they have now developed a camaraderie. He shares, “I feel that somewhere Neeraj sir has accepted me as a friend, and that’s a big deal for me because I have immense respect for him as a filmmaker and as a person. I’m highly inspired by the kind of work he does, his life and his principles. My biggest takeaway from this season is that I think he started seeing me as a friend, and we’ve developed a camaraderie. The biggest takeaway is that this is my third collaboration with them, so I’m fortunate to be associated with such a big name in the industry.”
Meanwhile, while talking about his experience of working with Kay Kay Menon, he says, “I’ve learned one thing from Kay Kay sir (Menon), which is that he is very disconnected from things after work. The outcome, the fame, none of it affects him. I’ve understood this from him and I want to learn and apply it to my life.”
Special Ops Season 2 also stars Vinay Pathak, Prakash Raj, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saiyami Kher, Muzamil Ibrahim, Tota Roy Choudhrury, Parmeet Sethi, Kali Prasad Mukherjee, Dalip Tahil, Arif Zakaria, Vikkas Manaktala, Shikha Talsania, Gautami Kapoor, Kamakshi Bhatt, and Revathi Pillai.
