17-Year-Old Drowns As Friends Film For Social Media, Mistaking It for Acting News24 –

The pursuit to capture heroic acts in a reel once again led to a deadly incident. A 17-year-old from the Bhandara district in Maharashtra died after drowning in the Barshare Pond while his friends were filming a reel. The incident took place at a pond near Pawani Tehsil’s Chulhath Village. Teerthraaj was filming a reel for his social media before slipping into a pond.

Real Screams For ‘Help’ Misinterpreted As Acting

According to bystanders, Teerthraaj slipped into the pond and began drowning, desperately calling for help. Tragically, onlookers mistook his cries as staged for a video and failed to assist. His friends, too, thought that he was acting by ‘calling for help’ and continued filming his last moments. And by the time they realised that Teerthraaj was drowning, it was too late to extend a helping hand.

Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the spot and retrieved the body from the pond. It was later sent for post-mortem. A case was registered at the Adyal Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

About Teerthraaj

Shooting and uploading videos was Teerthraaj’s hobby, and he often dared to attempt perilous activities for reels. The scenario reflects how a step taken for internet prominence can cause deadly consequences. Youngsters should be cautious while attempting such dangerous activities for popularity. The influence of social media also pushes them to attempt these risky acts.
