England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has named a 15-member team for the three-match ODI series with India at home, which will feature veteran left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone’s return after missing out on the recent West Indies series due to injury.
Another key recall is Maia Bouchier, who has been brought back after her good work with the bat. Bouchier made a good case for selection by scoring an unbeaten century during a warm-up game against India on June 24. The 26-year-old has played 17 ODIs so far and has scored 482 runs at an excellent average of 37.07, with a strike rate of 106.87. Her career has one century and two half-centuries to its credit.
In a welcome boost for English fans, skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt is likely to be ready for the series. Sciver-Brunt sat out the latter half of the Vitality T20I series with a groin strain, but the ECB had her down to be ready for full tilt in the ODIs.
“Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will play a full role in the series as she recovers from the end of the Vitality IT20 series with a groin injury,” the ECB said in its official press release.
Fast bowler Lauren Filer is also a closely watched player. She has been included in the team as she builds on her comeback from a knee injury. Durham pacer last represented the team in an ODI during the Ashes earlier this year and made headlines the other day with a spicy spell at the Kia Oval, where she bowled relentlessly at a pace averaging 76 mph throughout a game-altering four-over spell.
With a combination of experience and young talent, England will be looking to deliver a solid performance in the ODIs as they host a competitive Indian team.
