The recently launched Versys 300 has its work cut out, as it will compete against formidable rivals such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. While these competitors pose a strong challenge, the Versys lineup is already a prominent name in the motorcycle world. Hence, the new entrant is expected to meet the market’s demands effectively.
The Versys has been launched at Rs 2.85 lakh and Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in two colours — Candy Lime Green/Metallic Flat Spark Black and Pearl Horizon White.
The Versys 300 follows the same design language as the global-spec model. It features a tall windscreen and a fuel tank designed to enable long highway rides with ease. To protect riders from heavy wind blasts, the bike also comes equipped with a semi-fairing.
Features and Equipment
The Versys 300 is equipped with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels. It offers a ground clearance of 180mm and has a kerb weight of 185 KG. To ensure comfort during long highway journeys, the riding triangle has been optimized. The mid-set footpegs, wide-set and raised handlebars make it well-suited for both touring and off-road adventures.
In addition to these features, the Versys offers riders added functionality, such as an assist and slipper clutch, dual throttle valves, and an economical riding mode indicator. The Versys X 300 shares its engine with the Ninja 300 – a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that delivers approximately 40 PS of power and 26 Nm of peak torque. Suspension duties are handled by conventional RSU telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. For enhanced safety, the bike is also equipped with dual-channel ABS. Here’s how the bike would compete against the competitors in the market.
