Aasif Khan, best known for his role in Panchayat, has been discharged from the hospital and is now recovering well. Clearing up rumours, Khan confirmed that he did not suffer a heart attack but was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
“So first of all, I want to clarify—it was not a heart attack. It was gastroesophageal reflux disease. The symptoms felt like a heart attack, but I’m totally fit,” Aasif told The Times of India, addressing rumours.
The health scare happened after Aasif Khan drove all day from his hometown in Rajasthan to Mumbai. That evening, he felt chest pain, fainted in the bathroom, and was taken to the hospital.
Doctors have now advised him to make dietary changes and maintain a healthier lifestyle. “I’ve been told to stop eating dal baati, limit my non-veg, and work out more,” he quips.
Despite the incident, Khan remains optimistic and says it won’t affect his professional commitments, “I don’t think it should impact my work. Something or the other happens in everyone’s life. People move on,”
The unexpected break also offered him a digital detox. “I was away from my phone and it felt good. I’ve got so many messages—it’ll take me a month to reply to everyone.I didn’t expect so much love. It was very emotional,” he added.
Earlier, while still in the hospital, Khan had shared a photo with a heartfelt caption, “Realising after watching this for the past 36 hours Life is short, don’t take one day for granted, everything can change in a moment, be grateful for all you have and all that you are. Remember who is more important to you and always cherish them. Life is a gift and we are blessed.”
