An Air India flight (AI 2744, A320 aircraft VT-TYA) from Kochi to Mumbai experienced a runway excursion on Monday while landing at Mumbai Airport amid heavy rain. The flight, en route from Kerala’s Kochi, skidded off the runway after touchdown due to poor weather conditions. Sources said that the incident occurred after three tyres burst during landing. Fortunately, all passengers and crew disembarked safely, and the aircraft has been grounded for security checks.

The Air India spokesperson confirmed the event, stating, “Flight AI2744, operating from Kochi to Mumbai on 21 July 2025, experienced heavy rain during landing, resulting in a runway excursion after touchdown. The aircraft taxied safely to the gate, and all passengers and crew members have since disembarked. The aircraft has been grounded for checks. The safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority.” The aircraft landed around 9.27 am, after which emergency teams were immediately alerted. Air India said that the aircraft was safely taxied to the gate later.
