Kannada actor Ramya is facing a lot of online hate and threats after she supported Renukaswamy, the victim in the murder case involving Kannada actor Darshan. Ramya recently shared a screenshot on Instagram highlighting how the Supreme Court criticised the Karnataka High Court for granting bail to Darshan, saying it was almost like setting him free completely. In her post, she demanded justice and accountability. Soon after, her social media comments were flooded with abusive language, and her direct messages contained death and rape threats.
Ramya filed a complaint against social media harassment and called for necessary action. The actress has revealed that she will be meeting the Bengaluru commissioner on Monday regarding the same. Speaking to India Today, the actress said, “Bengaluru commissioner is giving me time today, so I will be going and meeting him. I’ve also got in touch with my lawyers, and we’re just trying to collate all the messages and put them together for the complaint.”
Ramya took to her Instagram stories and shared screenshots of the messages that have flooded her DMs.
According to reports, Ramya, along with her lawyer, has collated all the messages she received on her social media handles and submitted them as part of the complaint. “It’s pathetic, and it’s also very sad because abusing women has become the norm, and they’re getting away with it,” she commented.
Renukaswamy Murder Case
Darshan is currently out on bail granted by the Karnataka High Court. On Saturday, July 26, he came back from Thailand after finishing the shoot for his upcoming film Devil. While he was in Thailand, another controversy started when a photo went viral, allegedly showing him partying with Bipin Rai a man accused of murder in a sensitive case in Mangaluru.
Earlier, on June 11, 2024, Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and brutally killing Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
